Enablex - for the treatment of overactive bladder (OAB)
More information
ENABLEX* (darifenacin) is indicated for the treatment of overactive bladder. (OAB)
OAB: Overactive bladder is a group of urinary symptoms composed of urgency, with or without urge incontinence (leakage of urine), usually with frequency (going frequently to urinate) and nocturia (awaking up to go to urinate), in the absence of proven infection or other obvious diseases.Enablex is a strong blocker of bladder contractions. It blocks the transmissions between the nerves and the bladder muscle by interfering selectively in the production of the substance necessary for this transmission.
Enablex has an excellent efficacy and tolerability profile. As a result of its selectivity, the brain and heart side effects usually seen with this class of drugs are similar to placebo (a fake pill with no effect.)
Enablex is available as 7.5 mg and 15 mg. tablets. The starting dose is 7.5 mg once daily which can be increased to 15 mg. once daily after two weeks unless the patient has adequate control of symptoms.
